Dr. Gentry is a Professor of Geography in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. His primary research interests include biogeography, dendrochronology, and spatial analysis. He received a Ph.D. and M.A. from Indiana State University. Dr. Gentry served as the Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research from 2012-2016, was on the Executive Committee of the Tree-Ring Society from 2015-2020, selected to be the State of Tennessee Geography Steward for the National Geographic Society from 2018-2020, and was the Interim Director of the Center of Excellence for Field Biology from 2021-2022.
